MORALLY DEPRAVED ANTI-SMOKER INDUSTRY ATTACKS THE VULNERABLE
Can there really be anything more morally disgusting that the power, wealth and might of a hugely wealthy, state-backed industry being brought to bear on those who are the most vulnerable in society like the mentally ill
I am always shocked to discover just how low they can sink in pushing forward their own ideology to destroy legal industry, create fear and prejudice of legal consumers of a product they despise, and picking on the weakest members of communities just because they are an easy target.
Other bloggers have already mentioned the fine piece of writing I've linked to above from a woman who is angry at the way her daughter was treated in a mental health facility that forces smokers from self medication using a natural product to addicts dependent on pharmaceutical nicotine. She said :
How dare you anti-smoking fundamentalists impose your will on mentally ill patients, unable to leave the wards like ordinary patients who may smoke outside, forcing them to give up something that has been a self medication and comfort, and undermining their recovery!
Elsewhere greedy doctors with a conflict of interest have been exposed. In the name of humanity and fairness, it is time to take this matter out of the hands of industry and ideological political lobby groups and put it into the hands of those who really are impartial and independent and neither back Big Tobacco or the smokerphobics who are spreading their own vile prejudices for money.
I hope this lady's campaign in Australia achieves some success but I am astounded at the sheer intolerance of the country she lives in towards people who choose to buy a legal product.
And the way some of Australia's citizens justify their bigotry makes one's jaw drop
Michael said...
There is no place for smoking in a hospital. You do not have a right to smoke. Smoking is a freedom granted to you by our community via laws that allow the sale of tobacco products. That freedom is curtailed where appropriate as seen in laws banning smoking in eating places and inside buildings or areas with a roof. Claiming a right to smoke dilutes the value of the real rights we have. If smoking was a right, our government would be required to provide tobacco products for free or very cheap to ensure that you could exercise that right. That is something that is nonsensical given our damaging smoking is the the smoker and the community.
I think "Michael" would risen through the ranks of Govt in Germany in the 1930s and said so in a comment I left in response. Using his logic, one must assume that every single legal product from beer and chocolate to a new kitchen is only possible with permission from the state.
There is not one avenue that the anti-smokers take that doesn't leave them looking immoral. They've even perverted advice from humanist Nelson Mandela for their own political ends in trying to persuade us that this great man, who was subject to years of abuse of his own human rights, is an anti-smoker on their side.
If Nelson Mandela told fellow prisoners not to smoke it was because cigarettes can be used as political tools and not because he feared that beaten, starved and abused fellow inmates would die from a single whiff of a fag.
Yes, it is becoming abundantly clear that the anti-smokers have absolutely no morals and they will lie, cheat, bully and intimidate anyone who does not subscribe to their views.
This really is not about health - it is about hate.

BUGGER!

There was me thinking I'd got a great story this week but I should have guessed that by the time Skegness got its pants on the story had already been half way around the world and back.
I have a really good contact with a local depression group and so when the organiser told me he'd been sent two "patients" from a German soft toy maker's Asylum Range, I thought it was a cracker that I'd send to my favourite contact at the Sun.
I asked her to hold it until my paper had published and she responded by telling me it had already been in the nationals all last week. Bugger! Did I feel daft.
I can't find a link to any of these stories on google so I'll use my own here because it is still a great yarn.
Soft toys with a mental illness have been donated to a Skegness group by a German toymaker who believes his "patients" can help those suffering from depression and disorders.
A hippo with obsessive compulsive disorder and a turtle with depression are part of the Paraplush firm’s Asylum range and they have been donated to the Depression Support Group Lincolnshire based in Skegness.
Paraplusch makes toys with a variety of mental health issues. The hippo can’t help but try to constantly solve a jigsaw puzzle with little or no attention to the outside world and the turtle looks very glum.
Martin Kittsteiner is the creator of the toys. He said the idea came to him after making a joke about it with his girlfriend. He says that both children and grown-ups are attracted to the vulnerability of the toys, and that adults especially see it as therapeutic for themselves.
He sent two toys to Skegness after support group organiser James Hardaker wrote to him after a group forum user brought the story to everyone’s attention - and now two of these unique toys will be used to raise funds for the group.
"These are about £25 each to buy, so we’re really grateful to Martin for the kind donation. Personally I think the toys are great, and I’d love to see more entrepreneurs taking such an active interest in mental health."
Other "patients" in the range include a psychedelic snake called Sly who has issues with inner conflict which can be interpreted as a sign of an ambivalent relationships towards his own body, Dolly who seems to temporarily suffer from the delusion that she is a wolf despite the fact that she is without a doubt a sheep, and Kroco a crocodile whose hypersensitive hallucinatory perception is a symptom of a paranoid psychosis.
For more information about Paraplusch go to http://www.parapluesch.de/ and for the Depression Support Lincolnshire group check out http://www.depressionlincolnshire.co.uk/index.htm
Such constant bad luck with news stories and features is one of the reasons why I want to change from being a news and feature writer to a script and fiction writer. At least those stories I make up from my own imagination are original and less likely to have been done before.
Maybe the mentally ill and obsessive anti-smokers should check them out but then the toymaker says these soft animals have souls and that's is why the mentally ill relate to them. Antis have no souls and no hearts so I guess these little cute toys wouldn't do their mental obsessions any good.

F2C FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF THE MENTALLY ILL
Thanks to Freedom2Choose, it seems the Scottish Government is to debate a petition calling for a review of the consultation document "Achieving Smoke Free Mental Health Services in Scotland".
Over at the F2C blog, it says that Eddie Douthwaite, spokesperson for the pro-choice group, has cited numerous flaws in the consultation document. He complains that it has a pre-determined outcome, lacks supporting evidence and uses leading questions to misguide the public and mental health service users.
Absolutely, I would say. I also think that, actually, the Scottish health freaks have no intention of listening to anything other than their own prejudices. They want to eradicate smoking and the mentally ill are a very soft and easy target to bully into giving up.
All this brought to mind the speech given by Dr Jan Snel from the University of Amsterdam who can be seen in the video above giving his speech at The International Coalition Against Prohibition (TICAP) conference held last year in Brussels.
An expert in the field, Dr Snel says smoking is very good for those suffering from mental health issues and tobacco can be a treatment in itself. But will the Scottish Government care about the advice from such a renowned expert? I very much doubt it.
The sooner these self-serving bigots in any Parliament in the UK are voted out of office, the sooner we can celebrate the return of freedom to our land.
I wish the petition well. I am, however, too cynical to think that the Scottish Government gives a damn!
And.... while I'm on the subject and ready to rant, I might as well say that the sooner we cut off Scotland from the UK, close the border, make it so we have to a passport to get through, the better I will like it because I don't think it is conducive to democracy to have an independent Scotland whose MPs can sit and vote in our parliament but out English MPs cannot sit and vote in theirs.
I think we can all see what damage the puritancial Scots have done to this country ... and yes, that also includes the Goon Brown.
