A TASTY CRUMB

Imperial Tobacco has launched a new smokers' website for those who live, work or go on holiday in Spain.

Aqui Si which means "yes, here" in English, details those bars, restaurants and establishments that don't consider us the scum of the earth and will still allow us some comfort.

It can be accessed by web or smartphone - if I only knew what that was - and I'm sure it will come in useful. Spain is on my list of places to visit one day.

Imperial tell me that this is not the news that they had planned to write for this blog but share it as an example of what they are doing for us.

"As you will know, the hospitality sector in Spain has been hit hard by legislation brought in at the start of the year banning smoking in enclosed premises," their spokesman said.

"The new website provides users with details of the nearest place with a smoking terrace based on their current location. Premises with dedicated facilities for smokers can be registered with Aquí Sí by either the owners or their clients."

Jaime Gil-Robles, Director of Corporate and Legal Affairs Spain, said: “As a leading tobacco company we are eager to defend the rights of our consumers with simple initiatives such as this. We do not want to see smokers marginalised and made to feel they are doing something wrong.”

Imperial Tobacco says it is committed "to robustly defend its consumers' interests."

It is one small crumb of comfort and a move in the right direction. It's also good news on the day that I read THIS

Smoking is a real drag at the airport where smokers must pay £1 to smoke a cigarette in a designated area. It is thought to be the first airport in the UK to introduce such a charge.
Smokers are asked to put a coin into a machine which opens doors to a special smoking area.

Yes, it seems "smoking harms you and others around you" really doesn't matter as long as there is a few quid to be made from unrepentant cash-cow smokers. My guess is that the economy rests on our shoulders as we must put far more money into it than any po-faced anti who just sucks us all dry, obliterates our NHS with costly, lying propaganda, and creates jobsworths in non-jobs that depend on discrimination of minorities for their living.
